Low Oil Absorption — Viscosity Under Control

100% solids UV systems have no solvent to absorb: every component is reactive. A matting agent with high oil absorption strips reactive diluent from the liquid matrix, causing viscosity spikes that destroy flatline levelling and compromise through-cure. HMMAT UV Series is engineered with low oil absorption to remain nearly invisible to the coating's rheology profile, maintaining the flow window necessary for high-speed flatline UV application.

Non-Wax — No Cure Inhibition

Organic wax coatings on conventional silica intercept UV radiation and extend the oxygen inhibition period at the film surface, producing soft or tacky spots in fully cured UV films. HMMAT UV Series uses a UV-compatible non-wax surface treatment that integrates cleanly into the radical crosslink network, delivering consistent 60° surface cure hardness and scratch resistance without inhibition artefacts — critical for OEM UV coating brands that hold cure completeness as a primary specification.

+Does wax treatment on silica inhibit UV cure?

Coatings formulated with HMMAT UV Series are compatible with both mercury arc and UV-LED curing systems. At typical loadings of 3–8 wt% and UV doses of 300–600 mJ/cm², full surface and through-cure is achieved at line speeds of 15–50 m/min on flatline wood and plastic substrates.

Yes. HMMAT UV Series low oil absorption and non-wax treatment make it suitable for UV offset, flexographic, and screen inks requiring a matte or satin finish. Sub-grades with d50 3–5 µm are recommended for thin-film UV ink applications; d50 5–9 µm sub-grades are appropriate for thicker UV varnishes (15–30 µm).
